I finally rolled Wizard of Oz out of the box over the weekend and it played perfectly. Had a few friends and family over - some pinheads, some not. We all had a really good time. Lots of oohs and ahhs. Lots of laughs. It played great right out of the box. However, given all the coil adjustment options, I won't be able to resist tinkering with the settings to see if my setup benefits from boosting or cutting power to various coils. Amazing to have this level of control.
The lighting is stellar. I especially love the color sweeps when hitting various switches. It's a brilliant effect that wasn't really coming across in some of the videos I saw. Great sound system. The LCD is an absolute game-changer. People had nearly as much fun watching the cool stuff on the display as they did playing the game. Best score put up tonight was just under 170K with Lights Out, Welcome to Munchkinland, Rescue, and Emerald City MB all played.
Its an absolutely gorgeous game seemingly built to the highest quality standards. I'm so thrilled to have it!
Bram Stoker's Dracula Purchased from a vendor at the end of the 2009 Texas Pinball Festival. Completely restored with lots of mods. Show awards two years running. See Dracula page. Medieval Madness Needs a lot of cosmetic work, but plays 100% and I didn't pay very much for it. I'll probably grab a new playfield from IPB when they're done (supposedly summer 2010). Black Spider-man NIB purchase. Only machine I've bought site-unseen. Simply awesome game in a really cool Limited Edition package. Lord of the Rings Best game ever made! No other game pulls you into the theme like LOTR. Fanatsic integration with the movies. Cool toys, deep software. Given Stern's current direction, there will never be another game like this. Too bad. The Simpsons Pinball Party Very complex and satisfying game. Took a while to understand the ruleset, but once you get it - you get it. This game is a blast to play - Alien Invastion being my favorite mini-wizard mode of all time. Classic game. Also purchased NIB. Monster Bash First game I ever bought... grabbed it at SuperAuctions in Dallas on the cheap (good 'ole days). Needed some cosmetic work and had the usual problems. Totally rebuilt and converted to LEDs. Cab in cood condition. Have a spare playfield from IPB that I may install some day. White Water Restore completed February 2013. This one took forever and was shockingly expensive to restore. Thats ok because I've had one before and knew it would be a keeper. I'm thrilled with the results. ACDC Limited Edition - Let There be Rock Steve Ritchie's return to pinball. This machine is super-fast and fun. I bought this machine for the tournament area at TPF 2012 and took it home afterwards. It held up very well under tournament conditions and is now taking it easy in my gameroom.
